Psychiatric Emergency Nurses (PENs)

The ANMF attended the Tasmanian Industrial Commission on behalf of members on Monday 22 June 2020. Members indicated that they would require additional time to review the draft proposal for a trial of conditions. The ANMF have been collecting feedback from members and once this is complete a response will be sent to management. Department of Psychiatry (DoP)

The ANMF were recently contacted by members to discuss the new Mental Health Inpatient Unit (MHIU) in K-Block. Issues raised incuded the size of the space and safety concerns in relation to the layout. The ANMF met with members on Wednesday 10 June 2020, to discuss this. Following this meeting, the Nurse Unit Manager and Project Officer were provided with details of the concerns which had been raised. The ANMF participated in a walk through of the new Mental Health Inpatient Unit on 26 June 2020. If you have any questions or concerns please contact the ANMF Member Support Team.

Theatres

The ANMF visited theatres at the Royal Hobart Hospital on Wednesday 8 July. A number of concerns were raised in regard to the new work environment in K Block. We will be requesting a meeting with Theatre management and Workplace Representatives to discuss solutions to these issues.

Angiography Change Proposal

The ANMF has received a response to change proposal feedback for the Angiography suite move into K-block. This feedback included additional nursing staff to facilitate a successful move. We will be meeting with members to follow up on the outcome of the change proposal shortly, please keep an eye on your emails for more details relating to this.

Adult Community Mental Health Services (ACMHS) – Crisis Assessment and Triage Team (CATT) – Southern, Eastern and Northern Districts

The ANMF attended a video meeting with members on Monday 29 June 2020. This meeting was organised by management to discuss the survey results of a consumer and clinician survey that was conducted within the Crisis Assessment and Triage Team (CATT) and Helpline services . A draft proposal for a new ‘Acute Care Team’ Operational Service Model has been tabled for review by nurses who will be impacted by any changes. Feedback will be collated and sent to management. ‘12-hour shifts’ are currently being investigated and information will be given to members as it becomes available.

Another meeting was also held on Wednesday 17 June 2020 to discuss police escorts, with a subsequent meeting between the ANMF and Team Leader Dean Riches held to discuss the Memorandum of Understanding. Details were communicated to affected members via email.
