Aged Care Update

Aged Care Update

At this stage it is unclear whether a public health order will be issued in Tasmania regarding mandatory vaccinations for aged care workers and it will therefore need to be made by the Commonwealth. This will then apply to aged care providers rather than employees, however it is likely providers will then make the vaccine mandatory for aged care employees to work at that facility.

The ANMF has written to the Prime Minister and the Premier (to lobby the PM) asking for the expert health advice that underpinned the announcement for mandatory vaccines in aged care and raised a number of matters that also require careful consideration of the impacts this may have on the aged care sector.

Updates correct as at 8 July 2021.
