Launceston General Hospital (LGH)

Ward 3R

The ANMF met with Ward 3R members on Monday 27 March 2023 to discuss the proposed new 3R benchmarking, and the implications of this on the current Step 1 Grievance. View the latest newsflash update.

Ward 3D

On Wednesday 8 March 2023, the ANMF met with Ward 3D members to discuss the proposed Nursing Hours per Patient Day (NHpPD) benchmark for 2023, and solutions provided to the Step 1 Grievance raised on behalf of members on 22 December 2022. The meeting was unable to determine a resolution to the Step 1 Grievance or endorsement of the 2023 Benchmarking. John L Grove Rehabilitation Unit (JLGRU)

On Tuesday 14 March 2023, the ANMF met with Tasmanian Health Service (THS) north management to complete JLGRU benchmarking, 2023. On Wednesday 22 March 2023, the ANMF met with JLGRU members to discuss the proposed benchmark, and solutions provided to the Step 1 Grievance raised on behalf of members on 22 December 2022 and the subsequent Step 2 Grievance. Renal Unit

On Wednesday 29 March 2023, the ANMF met with THS North management to complete the 2023 renal north benchmarking for the LGH and Kings Meadows. At this stage, the proposed benchmarking is indicating an increase in Full Time Equivalent (FTE) for both the LGH in centre and Kings Meadows. The ANMF is in the process of scheduling meetings with members to discuss in further detail what is being proposed. Meeting notices will be sent shortly.

Northern Coronary Care Unit (NCCU)

On Thursday 23 March 2023, the ANMF met with THS North management to complete the 2023 NHpPD benchmarking for the NCCU. View the latest newsflash update.

Acute Medical Unit (AMU)

On Tuesday 28 March 2023, the ANMF met with THS North management to discuss the proposed 2023 benchmark for AMU. This has resulted in AMU receiving an increase in nursing FTE. The ANMF met with members on Tuesday 4 April 2023, to endorse the proposed increase and will contact THS to advise of the same. Newsflash update to follow shortly.

Ward 5A

On Thursday 9 March 2023, the ANMF met with Ward 5A members to discuss the proposed NHpPD re-benchmark for Ward 5A. Ward 5A benchmarking for 2023 will remain unchanged and rostering for 11 on the AM and PM shifts and 6 on the night shift to remain. The ANMF will liaise with THS management regarding the Ward 5A clinical coach to ensure this position is document as a part of the benchmarking process to confirm this position in the e-Calculator tool moving forward.

Wards 4D, ED, ICU, 5D

The ANMF has received feedback from members on wards 4D, ED, ICU and 5D regarding the THS decision to remove after hours hospital aide and ward clerk positions. These positions were established during COVID-19 and members advise that they remain relevant today due to the ongoing potential for COVID-19 and changes in the way health care has been delivered as a result of COVID-19. Members have advised that loss of these roles will adversely affect nursing workloads. The ANMF have written to THS management and will provide a further update to members shortly.
