Bruny Island Primary Health Care
The ANMF continue to seek a resolution to a dispute affecting our members at Bruny Island Primary Health Care that originally proposed permanently removing the second on call nurse from the roster at Bruny Island Primary Health Care. The ANMF were advised on Friday 13 October 2023 that a ‘memo’ will be produced that will propose a ‘third option’ to resolve the current dispute that will see the second on call working into the evening but not overnight. It is anticipated that the memo will be distributed this week or next. Details will be distributed to members once this is available with a member’s meeting to follow.
Adult Community Mental Health Continuing Care Teams
The ANMF continue to work with our members and Statewide Mental Health Services (SMHS) management to resolve issues arising through reform and consultation in relation to elements that have not yet been implemented. Presently, the ANMF attend a monthly meeting with both delegates and representative members from each of the three Continuing Care Teams (CCTs), along with management. The ANMF will also continue to meet with members separately to ensure those who don’t attend the meeting are kept informed and able to provide feedback. The next meeting with management is scheduled for Wednesday 1 November 2023.

The ANMF has provided members with a Newsflash in relation to this matter. View the latest update.
The ANMF met with members at a Correctional Primary Health Service (CPHS) member’s meeting on Wednesday 11 October 2023 to gather further feedback and discuss the plan outlined in the above Newsflash. Once a draft Section 55 has been prepared by the Department and is with ANMF ready for consultation with members, more details will be provided.
Section 55 for 12 Hour Shifts at Mistral Place, Tolosa Street, Millbrook Rise Centre (MRC) and Roy Fagan Centre (RFC)
The process for the Section 55s for these sites will be similar for that of CPHS above. A decision has not yet been made around combining these four sites into one Section 55, but the ANMF are of this understanding that this is the variation that is currently being considered. There are some additional intricacies with these sites that will need to be considered, such as the external meal break relief that is provided to two of the sites. In the interim there has unofficially been a commitment to pay for meal breaks as per the award but once this has been confirmed the ANMF will let affected members know.
Mental Health Inpatient Unit
The ANMF has met with members in the Mental Health Inpatient Unit (MHIU) regularity in recent months around issues and concerns that are creating workload pressures and increasing occupational health and safety risk. A response to these concerns has been provided in a Newsflash. A members meeting will be arranged soon to discuss the responses provided.
Peacock House and Safe Haven
The ANMF met with members last Friday 13 October 2023, to discuss responses to recent concerns that had been raised. View the latest update.
Members raised some serious concerns in particular relation to the duress system currently being used. With the ANMFs support, Health Safety Representatives (HSRs) onsite at Peacock House have issued their employer with four Provisional Improvement Notices (PINs) under work health and safety laws.
Please note that this is an evolving situation, and more information will be provided to affected members as it becomes available.
