Aged Care Nurses Wage increase

We are thrilled to announce that the Fair Work Commission (FWC) has reconsidered its decision to delay the wage increases for aged care nurses. Initially, the decision was postponed for at least another six months pending a subsequent Work Value Case. However, thanks to the ANMF’s compelling submissions, the FWC has scheduled an additional hearing day to finalise their decision.

This hearing is expected to take place within a matter of weeks, and we anticipate a decision on the wage increase for Registered Nurses (RNs) and Enrolled Nurses (ENs) shortly after. This means that the increases for RNs and ENs are now likely to follow the same timeline as those for Personal Carers (PCs) and Assistants in Nursing (AINs)—just as we have been advocating for

The ANMF has been contacted by members with concerns relating to short staffing in particular on night shifts. Despite members raising it with management, the situation is not improving. It is increasingly unsafe for residents, nurses, and care workers. View the latest update.

Updates are correct as of 12 June 2024.
