Enrolled Nurse to Registered Nurse Upgrade

The ANMF has written to the Secretary of the Department of Health, after feedback from our membership that employed Enrolled Nurses (ENs) who have upgraded to a Registered Nurse (RN) are not able to rollover to an RN on their ward but are told to complete a Transition to Practice year.

The ANMF note that this is in breach of the Nurses and Midwives Agreement. The ANMF will keep members updated on the outcome of this breach as soon as a response has been received. In the interim however, Hospitals North have confirmed that all ENs who have provided evidence of completion of a Bachelor of Nursing will automatically have their classifications adjusted accordingly irrespective of whether they have sought a position within the Transition to Practice program or not.

Updates are correct as of 22 January 2025.
