Paediatric Ward
The ANMF has written to Tasmanian Health Service (THS) North West management on behalf of members working on the North West Regional Hospital (NWRH) Paediatric Ward regarding ongoing concerns for staff safety, wellbeing, and patient care. View the latest update.
Operating Suite (OS)
The ongoing workload dispute in the North West Regional Hospital (NWRH) Operating Room Suite (ORS) was to be heard on Tuesday 29 April 2025 in the Tasmanian Industrial Commission (TIC). The ANMF officials and workplace delegates are pleased to announce that on Monday 28 April 2025, the Tasmanian Health Service (THS) has committed to funding the Full Time Equivalent (FTE) increase for a 12 month period, further benchmarking will occur prior to the end of the 12 month period. Pleasingly this will see a nursing FTE of 40.13, an increase from the current establishment of 32.78 FTE plus an increase in Transition to Practice (TtP) and support staff. The positions created will be fixed term with recruitment to commence as soon as possible. Vacant positions already on the establishment are able to be recruited to permanently as per normal processes. This is a significant win for members who have continued to stand with their union to secure safe staffing levels and enforce members’ entitlements. The ANMF remains fully committed to our members.
West Coast District Hospital
The ANMF has received a Change Proposal regarding Domestic Service Officers (DSO) current rostered hours. The change proposal, received today, outlines that the current rostered shifts of the DSOs do not meet the Infection Control requirements of the Hospital, therefore the West Coast District Hospital (WCHD) proposes to increase the Full Time Equivalent (FTE) to include an additional shift line.
While the Change Proposal may not directly affect nursing hours, the ANMF is mindful that change proposals can impact the service as a whole and, therefore, is sharing this Change Proposal to all nursing staff so you may comment on the proposed shift changes if you wish to. The button below will take you to the Change Proposal document which you can read and provide comment to the appropriate person if you choose to.
Mersey Community Hospital (MCH)
Day Surgery Unit (DSU) and Theatre
The ANMF has been advised by members at the Mersey Community Hospital (MCH) Theatre and Day Surgery Unit (DSU) that changes to shift times have been implemented without prior consultation with staff and the ANMF. View the latest update.
Updates are correct as of 1 May 2025.
