Ward 2J Cardiology – Benchmarking Proposal and Grievance

Thank you to all members who attended the ANMF meeting on Thursday 10 July 2025 to discuss the proposed benchmarking changes for Ward 2J. Your contributions, insights, and commitment to patient and staff safety are greatly appreciated.

Key outcomes from the meeting:

  • Majority of members DO NOT support the proposal as it currently stands and have expressed a desire to push for more support.
  • Members voted to formally request a ward-wide survey to determine whether to accept or reject the proposal.
  • Members also voted in favour of lodging a Step One Grievance regarding unsafe workloads, poor skill mix, and inadequate support.

Ward 8A Oncology Outpatients – Grievance Raised

The ANMF on Tuesday 15 July 2025, formally lodged a Step One Grievance on behalf of members in Ward 8A in relation to the proposed staffing reductions to the Clinical Trials Unit (CTU), in accordance with Appendix C, Clause 5 – Grievance Procedure of the Nurses and Midwives (Tasmanian State Service) Interim Agreement 2013.

This follows a well-attended member meeting held on Thursday 10 July 2025, where members voted in favour of formally raising the matter through the grievance process. Read the full update here.

Holman Clinic – Grievance

The ANMF has formally lodged a Step One Grievance on behalf of members at the Holman Clinic, Royal Hobart Hospital (RHH), in accordance with Clause 5 of Appendix C – Grievance Procedure of the Nurses and Midwives (Tasmanian State Service) Interim Agreement 2013.

This grievance follows a member meeting held Thursday 10 July 2025, where members voted to escalate concerns in response to the proposed reduction of 8.98 Full-Time Equivalent (FTE) across clinical, research, and administrative roles within the RHH Clinical Trials Unit (CTU) and Medical and Cancer Services (MaCS). Ward 9A – Oncology

The ANMF has formally lodged a Step One Grievance on behalf of members in Ward 9A – Oncology Ward at the RHH, in accordance with Clause 5 of Appendix C – Grievance Procedure of the Nurses and Midwives (Tasmanian State Service) Interim Agreement 2013.

This action follows a member meeting held on Friday 11 July 2025, where members voted to escalate concerns regarding proposed staffing cuts affecting the Clinical Trials Unit (CTU) and Medical and Cancer Services (MaCS). Read the full update here.

Oncology Clinics Ward 1A – Grievance Lodged

The ANMF has formally lodged a Step One Grievance on behalf of members in Ward 1A – Outpatient Oncology and Blood Services at the RHH, in accordance with Clause 5 of Appendix C – Grievance Procedure of the Nurses and Midwives (Tasmanian State Service) Interim Agreement 2013.

This grievance was endorsed by members during a meeting held on Thursday 10 July 2025, following serious concerns raised about the proposed reduction of 8.98 Full-Time Equivalent (FTE) across clinical, research, and administrative roles within the Clinical Trials Unit (CTU) and Medical and Cancer Services (MaCS).
