Department of Critical Care Medicine
The ANMF would like to thank members who participated in the recent survey regarding the 12-hour shift model. Unfortunately, the initial survey only provided a “Yes” or “No” option, which has meant the results were unclear and not reflective of the specific preferences within the membership. Ward K9 East
The ANMF has written to the Executive Director of Nursing and Midwifery (EDONM) on behalf of members on K9 East following serious workplace safety concerns. View the latest update.
Workload Dispute Lodged
On Thursday 4 September 2025, the ANMF formally lodged a workload dispute in the Tasmanian Industrial Commission (TIC) on behalf of members working at the Department of Medical Imaging (DMI). View the latest update.
Ward K10 East
At the meeting, the Australian Nursing and Midwifery Federation Tasmanian Branch (ANMF) provided managements’ response:
- Management confirmed their intention to proceed with the recruitment of the proposed Assistants in Nursing (AINs) from benchmarking. This will mean:
- +2 AINs on AM and PM shifts.
- +1 AIN on Night Duty shifts.
- 7 days a week coverage.
- Implementation is expected within the 4–6-week timeframe outlined by management.
- As a result, the Step Two grievance will be held in abeyance until the AINs are implemented.
Management have rejected members’ proposal to convert the 0.78 Full-Time Equivalent (FTE) 12-month fixed-term clinical coach role into a Registered Nurse (RN) role, citing that funding for an RN position is not supported.
Ward K9 West

Wilfred Lopes Centre Safe Staffing Proposal
The ANMF writes in response to the Change Proposal for Safe Staffing at the Wilfred Lopes Centre (WLC). This change proposes an alteration of the staffing allocation across the spread of shifts to ensure a minimum of 4 clinical staff and 4 clinical/non-clinical staff on every shift.
