Launceston General Hospital (LGH)
The ANMF will be onsite Friday 31 October 2025, Friday 21 November 2025, and Friday 19 December 2025 from 0900hrs – 1600hrs in the cafeteria. This is an opportunity to speak directly with your ANMF organisers about workloads, staffing, or any other workplace issues. A reminder text will be sent on the day – we look forward to seeing you then! The ANMF has been attending benchmarking consultation for wards across LGH, member meetings will commence from week beginning Monday 3 November 2025 to discuss the data.
Wombat Ward
The ANMF has lodged a Step 1 Nursing Hours per Patient Day (NHpPD) Workload Grievance on behalf of members working on Wombat Ward at the LGH. View the latest update.
Ward 5B
The ANMF attended the benchmarking consultation with management for LGH Ward 5B. Diagnosis Related Group (DRG) data for the financial year showed a slight decrease in Category A patients, and slight increase in Category B and Category C patients. With slight increases in emergency admissions (88.02% increased to 89.36%), turnover (53% increased to 55%). Ward split remains 20 Category A beds and 6 Category B beds. The overall result is that there will be no change to the staffing establishment – no increase or decrease in nursing hours. Management have arranged for further education from coding department in December to ensure documentation is capturing acuity of patients.
Emergency Department (ED)
On Friday 10 October 2025, the ANMF attended the first conciliation meeting to represent members working in the LGH ED.

Medical Director Change Proposal
The ANMF has received a Change Proposal from the Department of Medicine (DoM) at the LGH outlining the introduction of two new Clinical Director positions:
- Clinical Director – Sub-Acute & Ambulatory Services (0.5 Full Time Equivalent (FTE) responsible
- for Rehabilitation & Geriatrics, Infectious Diseases, Renal, Immunology, Endocrinology, Rheumatology & Chronic Pain.
- Clinical Director – Critical Care Services (0.5 FTE) responsible for the ED & Intensive Care Unit (ICU).
Ward 6D
The ANMF has been advised by the Tasmanian Health Service (THS) that there has been a delay from People and Culture in providing a response to the ANMF’s request for strategies to address the increasing incidents of violence and aggression on Ward 6D. The ANMF will continue to follow up this matter and will meet with members once a response is received.
Hospitals North RIO Change Proposal
The ANMF has received a Change Proposal from the THS concerning the Rostering and Information Office (RIO) at Hospitals North. The THS states the proposed changes aim to improve rostering consistency, workforce data use, and efficiency as part of the statewide Rostering Improvement Program. View the latest update.
Allambi
The ANMF have filed an application with the Tasmanian Industrial Commission (TIC) following the conclusion of the feedback/consultation around the announcement to relocate services from Allambi building to an inner-city location. A hearing has been listed for Tuesday 11 November 2025.
