North West Agency Staff Usage

The ANMF would like to announce that the secretary of the Department of Health has advised on Friday 19 September 2025, that there will be no change to the use of agency nursing and midwifery staff where required to ensure safe staffing. View the latest update

Mersey Community Hospital (MCH)

Emergency Department (ED)

The ANMF has lodged an application with the Tasmanian Industrial Commission (TIC) for the implementation of the 2024 benchmarking increase. Conciliation for this matter is scheduled for Friday 17 October 2025. The ANMF will update members as this progresses.
Further, if members are experiencing issues or have concerns about management not flexing staffing during periods of bed block, the ANMF encourages members to raise this with senior management or contact the ANMF so we can advocate on your behalf.

Theatres and Day Surgery Unit

The ANMF is meeting with management this week to discuss the Step 1 grievance and ongoing concerns regarding patients admitted to the Transit/Discharge Lounge, noting there is currently no clear criteria for patient suitability for admission. The ANMF will be advocating for staff consultation and clear admission criteria to be developed for the transit lounge.
